Hi folks

Hi folks

Hi folks,

I’ve written up the second session of our strange little WWW game, if anyone’s interested. It involved more mad science and kitchen utensils than is common in wrestling, but whatever.

Our next session is this week, and I’m thinking of putting either a Regal Wrangle or King of the Hill match in there. Any feedback or suggestions from folks who’ve run those kind of scenes?

  1. For the Royal Wrangle, having run it, I would definitely make the momentum cost to prevent elimination get more expensive the more you use it. I had players come in after cutting promos with a decent chunk of Momentum and no one got eliminated.

  2. Here’s an escalating-Momentum rule (adapted from the new Death Match stipulation!) –

The first time you spend to keep from being eliminated, it costs 1 Momentum

Once everyone has spent to keep themselves from being eliminated (or has been eliminated), the Momentum cost goes up to 2 (and then once everyone has spent 2 it goes to 3, etc)

The simpler book-keeping version is just it costs 1, then 2 etc individually, but that does mean that if someone gets ganged up on they will run out of Momentum even quicker. Kind of depends on the table dynamic and how many players you have in the match.

  3. Yeah that rule has been pretty good. I also use it for shoot fights and have considered hacking the game to do actual fighting tournaments and such.

  4. For the curious: I went with a King of the Hill match, and the players seemed to really enjoy it. It ended with the Hill exploding and throwing every wrestler into a time vortex.

We didn’t use the escalating Momentum rule, as the players aren’t that aggressive with interruptions. The rule I would change, though, is to make the player in control of the match at the beginning someone other than the King – the current rule made the match very defensive. Changing it would make the match more about taking territory than holding it.
