Bonjourno,

Well, we wrapped up our four-session WWW mini-campaign, which was… look, Chikara got nothing on this. Do they have Hitler being suplexed in the middle of the Downfall scene? Do they have valiant Martians vs the evil armies of Emperor Trump? Do they have a werewolf crotching a mad scientist or a David Bowie-themed wrestler? Do they have anyone deliberately crapping their pants to win a tag match?

Hmm. Maybe next season. You never know.

Anyway, here’s a session writeup for anyone interested, along with GM commentary.

And that’s us done.

Hi folks

Hi folks

Hi folks,

We’re continuing with our weird and wonderful WWW game, and I’ve done a writeup for session 3, which included one wrestler being hung upside down from a disco ball, an Elvis impersonator halftime show and a 4-way match that ended with an exploding time vortex.

I’ve also done separate GMing notes/analysis, as is my wont:

Hi folks

Hi folks

Hi folks,

I’ve written up the second session of our strange little WWW game, if anyone’s interested. It involved more mad science and kitchen utensils than is common in wrestling, but whatever.

Our next session is this week, and I’m thinking of putting either a Regal Wrangle or King of the Hill match in there. Any feedback or suggestions from folks who’ve run those kind of scenes?

Hi folks

Hi folks

Hi folks,

I just finished running a short (4-session) mini-campaign of Urban Shadows, and it ended up being a lot of fun. One player said that he’d never had such a good time playing a vampire! (Particularly once he started Letting it Out every scene and gaining Corruption moves.)

I’m moving onto other games now, but I was really impressed by US and I’m thinking of coming back for a sequel arc sometime next year. Maybe even something longer…

Anyway, if you’re at all interested in the mysteries of winter fae and public transport magic, you can check out the session writeups at https://rule-of-three.obsidianportal.com/adventure-log, as well as my GMing notes and comments at http://savevsfacemelt.tumblr.com/tagged/urban-shadows

Thanks!

Hi folks

Hi folks

Hi folks,

We started playing Shadows this week and everyone seems to be having a good time (me included).

The session threw out a lot of plot hooks and elements, and I’m slowly winnowing them down to a handful that I can effectively use in this three-session game.

However, one thing I’m struggling with is turning these ideas into Threats. (I’ve had difficulty with this in other PbtA games too.) It’s tricky for me to break an idea up into the six clock-ticks; I have a habit of overcomplicating things, putting too much into each tick and dragging in additional plot bits that don’t connect to the core idea.

So it’d be great to hear from y’all about how you make effective Threats – particularly if you could share some you’ve made and talk about how they worked in play.

Thanks!

Hi folks

Hi folks

Hi folks,

There’s some material in Shadows about running single-session games, and it’s great to get advice on how to tweak the setup for a one-shot.

However, I’m getting ready to run a three-session Shadows game, and I’m wondering if anyone has thoughts or advice on similar tweaks. Should characters start with advances and corruption? Should we bother with the start/end-of-session moves?

It’d be great to hear people’s thoughts and experiences.

Thanks!
