The Four Horsewomen are The Beatles of wrestling right now.

Charlotte is Paul. The dynamic frontwoman who grabs the early attention, and has serious skill combined with an intriguing sense of vulnerability and nervousness when not on stage. If she plays her cards right, she could well have the most career longevity of the four.

Sasha Banks is John. The sly stylish one, the one with the most “mystique”. The favorite of many, she’s the one most likely to have been successful even without the rest of the group — but people are afraid that she’s going to die or get crippled young, cut off in her prime.

Becky Lynch is George. There’s a sense that she’s somehow the “least” of the four, not quite as showy or glamorous in some way — but those in the know can attest to her skill, dedication, and fully deserving of her spot in this pantheon.

Bayley is Ringo. The one who sometimes seems a little out of place, a little zany, a little awkward, and definitely the most outlandishly garbed of the four. But the crowds LOVE her, and even if she isn’t the most suave speaker, you can tell that she’s just having so much damn fun on stage that you can’t help but smile.

Sound about right?

  1. I think Becky is stuck without a gimmick that has caught on with the audience. Her matches are excellent and her skill is unquestioned, but she’s just not clicking with the Steampunky thing as well as one might expect.

  2. As a Smackdown-preferer, Becky with the title is really putting it together for her, I think. And her promos are getting better! The steampunk thing could fall away entirely and I think it won’t affect her at all.

  3. Based on interviews I’ve heard with her it’s literally just a thing she likes. Like, there’s no creative direction with it, she just likes the aesthetic so it’s what she wears.

  4. Great matches without a gimmick that resonates can only get her so far in this day and age. Charlotte is the Legacy, Banks is the rock star, Bayley is the earnest fangirl made good, but Becky is…just kind of there right now. She deserves a great gimmick to go with the spot she’s earned on SD.

  5. I dunno it kinda works for me. It manages to give her a “look” while still managing to make her come off as the “no frills, just fights” type girl, which ultimately, is her gimmick. She talks about it a lot. She’s just a fighter, and loves to fight.

AJ Styles doesn’t have a very dead-set gimmick, he’s just AJ, and he’s getting by just fine.
