While this artwork definitely emphasizes the queerness of the game, I absolutely loved the cover art for the original Monsterhearts.
If the two covers were side by side and I could only buy one game, I would choose the original cover game over this one. I don’t think this cover will sell the game as well.
Thank you Avery Alder for creating a game that will always have a very special place in my heart. 🙂 It has challenged me as a person and a player and given me much to reflect about the wonderful, weird, sometimes painful, sometimes beautiful process of growing up as well as the pressures that come with being in that awkward space between childhood and adulthood and our perceptions of sexuality, growing up, relationships, etc. I am so excited to see the changes to the game and explore it once again!
I like it! I think it captures the queerness of the game, and also the feralness. I think that’s important because lack of feralness is one of the biggest turn-offs in some of the source material (aka twilight).
Also, I’m really excited to see Kieron Gillen write a stretch goal. I’m a big fan of his work for Marvel and W+D.
