  1. Writing one up now! Though as a fight in Legacy is a single-move deal it’s more a example of play in which a fight happens than a simple example of combat 🙂

  2. My own recent example from the ongoing “Solar Flare” campaign.

    Persona Dramaticae:

Andrei, a Tyrant Hunter, and his gang, The Professionals

Youssef, a Merchant Elder, and his bodyguard (and spies) entourage.

The Order of Stars’ Mercenaries, a 30 Strong group, armed to the teeth with efficient if ancient firearms (as seen in Legacy, page 120).

Stage: garage with multiple levels, full of ledges and ramp between trucks and tanks.

Action: The Mercenaries were returning to the Garage, and Youssef’s bodyguards quietly alert our heroes. Andrei disappears from sight with a Shadow in the Wind to ambush the Mercs. Everyone else lays behind cover, waiting for his command. The Hunter watches the mercs disembark from several trucks, and rolls Force for Red of Tooth and Claw. He gets a 9, +2 of Force, for 11 and holds 3. He immediately spends 1 to “Slice away their weaponry”. He narrates as he picks up a perch and snipe shoots the best armed Mercenary, reducing their damage in 1.

Then, Andrei rolls Fiercely Assault for the attack proper and he gets a 5! Before the Narrator picks his choices for the result he request the Professional’s assistance, who start marauding the cargo trucks to distract and flank the Mercenaries. They roll a 9 and Andrei chooses “..there will be unfortunate consequences”, to which the Narrator says that the targeted trucks get damaged in the crossfire. Still, Andrei 5 becomes a 7-9 as the Professionals shout at the top of their lungs how unprofessional they are.

Before the Mercenaries get the chance to Split up and Flank, as one of their Moves, Andrei Calls for Aid from Youssef, who leads his Bodyguards . They do so with a 9 and get -1 Quality as they suffer some losses. With that Andrei’s 5 finally becomes a 10+ and he picks:

    – “…Scavenge something valuable from the aftermath – gain 1 Tech”, as whatever could be salvaged from their damaged vehicles.

    – “You inflict savage, terrifying harm…” – neutralizing the mercenaries that weren’t kille.

    while the GM picks

    – Suffer damage, 4 as they act as a group, but -1 due to use of Red of Tooth and Claw and – 1 of Andrei’s Armor; leaving him with 2 of Harm, at no penalties but “On the Defensive” and “Out of Ammo”. Youssef nervously assesses the situation, as both his bodyguards and the Hunter are in shape for any further opposition. The battle was certainly much meaner and longer than anyone of them truly expected.
