It’s interesting as the past few days gave me a chance to delve deeper in AWE games. My gaming group (we play DW nowadays, coming from Savage Worlds) asked me to GM a Uncharted Worlds mini campaign (we’ll start one in two weeks). A few friends asked me to GM a Urban Shadows game (online, and I still need to see how I’ll do that) and I’m trying to schedule that to wednesdays…

…and a gaming store asked me to GM a one-shot Masks game this saturday.

Hands full, I know, but it’s like going back to the ’90s and GMing every time I could.

Well, I’ve just translated Masks’ player movements into Portuguese and I’m now translating the playbooks. Does anyone know if the playbook iconic character images are available somewhere in order to use them in my translation?

  1. I thought that was for your personal use.  And being sincere, the anime companies never complained when the main brazilian rpg magazine “made adaptions” from their animes for several years without consent and several times “lending” fanart. So chillax, what you made is a “adaptation”

  2. Well, I think it’s only fair to share a translation if the original work is already free. Maybe even Magpie Games lists the download link on their website if they want to reach a Portuguese-speaking market… 🙂

  3. Provided that you’re not selling the playbooks, you’re free to distribute translations. We’ll have information up later this year about the Creative Commons license that will let anyone make products based on Masks!

That said, please don’t redistribute any images. Thanks!

  4. Magpie Games, thanks for the clarification. I’m almost done translating the playbooks and then I’ll upload them somewhere for everyone, free of charge.

No imagens from Masks will be included, as your request.
