What’s the difference between a Nova using engage target with Danger, vs engaging the target with Freak by using Reality Storm?

  1. Narratively, there needn’t be any, aside from the collateral damage that Reality Storm can cause. If you want to highlight that even when they spend the Burn to avoid it, you can talk about how the power is just barely under control and they have to fight to keep it together. (Of course, you can do the same thing on a regular Directly Engage, too.)

But yeah, aside from that it’s a purely mechanical thing. It’s just framed with different possible fallout, rather than an adjusted fictional trigger like most label substitutions.

  2. So you guys don’t think there wouldn’t be any real visual different between the two? Reality Storm being a more powerful, uncontrolled display of their power?

  3. That’s really over to the player, but yeah, I think Reality Storm is meant to showcase the Nova’s crazy power level.
