  1. To answer “can a villain be guilted into stopping”, yes, definitely. That happens in the comics all the time. But can every villain be guilted into stopping? No. You decide which villains are susceptible to which conditions when you design them.

  2. p157 core rulebook, “when a villain needs to mark a condition but can’t, they are defeated”. So basically I think you mentally/emotionally defeat/get defeated. If your villain can only take 2 conditions and already suffers from one, the heroes may be winning. Depends on what is happening in the fiction.

  3. Also bear in mind that “winning” isn’t just a matter of who’s most injured. If Doctor Dark is bruised, beaten and surrounded by the heroes, but he still manages to complete his ritual to blot out the sun, he’s still winning. If the Silver Sneak leaves half the team unconscious, but the quantum emerald is safely secured and no bystanders are injured, then that could count as a win for the heroes.
