Is there a way to move power actions from one field to another. For example if a character who Has super strength gets significantly stronger somehow Lifting a a Freight container may have once been difficult, but would now be simple.
Or perhaps they just get more practice with a skill based aspect of using their power, perhaps a person that can turn to smoke has “Make a hand at the end of a smokey arm be solid” as borderline, but overtime gets more practice with their power and it may just become difficult.
Is there a way to model this that I’ve missed?
It is not stated explicitly anywhere in the book, but as EiC I’d let my players do it via PUSH.
What fiction demands. Always.
I dont think Push really does that? Push lets them do things that arent in their power profile, it has no bearing on powers that are actually in their profile. How would that work?
And I’m talking about the mechanics of the game – not talking about when to follow the fiction – in both my examples the fiction has happened and in order to follow the fiction we require the game give us the tools to do so. A change like that would have a big effect on where other applications of “Push” would fall, and as a result should require some cost of Advancements from the player? So am i right in thinking the game doesn’t support that?
Matthew Brown Yes, you are thinking about something not covered in the game.
You could Push to make it easily and then change it in the power profile. You could Die for now and come back with a change in your powers… or you could just straight change it in your power profile to better represent the fiction, if you have table consensus on it.
I could see using Push to do it in a dramatic moment, if they haven’t realized their powers have changed yet, or haven’t gotten used to it yet. I’d probably let them reorganize their Powers Profile as if they were starting from scratch maybe depending on what’s going on in the fiction.
Like Oscar says, it really depends on the fiction. There aren’t express rules for it in the book. With Achievements they can add stuff, but there isn’t anything for shifting stuff around so you’ll have to talk to the player and come up with something cool you both think suits the game and the fiction.
