When you advance and take “Take a move from another playbook” the rules say you can’t take something like “The Doom track” which is specific to that playbook.
Is the Nova’s burn moves available to take and if so does the character also take the burn ability?
I already allowed the player to do so but it seemed like a grey area.
Notice on the Playbooks that moves are labeled with the heading “Moves,” while playbook-specific features are not and instead have their own unique labels. For example, the Beacon has Moves and then Drives. The Bull has Moves and then Bull’s Heart. The Nova only has the playbook-specific feature “Burn,” and it has “flares,” not “moves.”
Technically, without custom moves, the only way to take any of the Nova’s stuff is to either be the Nova, or the Doomed (who can take an advance to get Burn and Flares).
Well, that will make the player happy as she is playing the Doomed. That means she get two more flares.
Alfred Rudzki Well technically no. Several Playbooks gets Flares and Burn as an Advance. Anyone who has Burn should be able to take more Flares. And the Transformed gets a Doom Track and Dooms.
Don’t know what you’re saying “no” to. In the core playbooks only the Doomed and Nova can have Burn and Flares. I’ve checked; it’s why I said it.
You can only get more Burns if you have an advance that says “get more Burns,” like the Nova does, or if story events permit.
The Transformed gets Doom from an advance saying “get a Doom,” not from “take another playbook’s move.” This is what I was saying.
Get burn and three flares (from the Nova’s
playbook) That’s from The Doomed’s Advances.
Take a doom, doomtrack, and doomsigns from
the Doomed playbook
That’s from the Transformed. It clearly tells you to take Doomsigns.
The Newborn also gets Flares and Bun.
Why are we talking about the Transformed dude?? I’m honestly confused why you’re hounding this point when I’m here in this Burn thread talking about Burn.
Are you saying that if the Transformed takes Doom, then they can then also take Burn? Because no they can’t. Is that what you mean? I don’t follow.
