Just took UW out for a test-drive and enjoyed it a lot. My son 10 and his friend wanted a couple of hours of play and I had my son’s character nearly ready. Wanting to speed through the process, I used one of the pregen characters accessible via a link provided in the book. He chose a character that was the same ‘role’ as my son’s character and I thought ‘well, I wonder how I am going to make this work?’.
Long story short, we worked it through as supporting storytellers, we had a great time and all better understand how the game works.
Thanks for a quick and, mostly, intuitive system to ‘live’ a colorful, action-filled life among the stars and factions.

I’m so glad you had a good time with the game!
I note the “mostly” intuitive, hehe. Anything that specifically tripped you up? I’m always on the look-out for aspects I can improve in the future.
Thanks for the conversation, Sean,
Know that I come from a RPG gaming history since the add-on to chainmail, so ‘intuitive’ is relative.
The one dice roll to cover a whole battle feels too coarse to me and I find myself wanting to flow through the battle in rounds. Consequently, I also pulled non-battle contests and challenges out to multiple ‘rounds’.
I wanted more jump point examples and/or podcasts as gameplay templates. I see there is now a 21 Jump points supplement and there is the “Orbital Decay” GWJ RPG podcast to study play and mechanics but I don’t know if they agree with your conception of the game.
My son and his friend wondered at payment, which I deflected with debts/favors and high-level barter system based ion classes but was left a little cold by the description of wealth on page 112. If lifestyle equates to standing wealth then what are the classes of lifestyle/wealth in the Gomsean universe?
Again, thank you for the conversation and the gaming system.
So far… so good…
