  1. Did the same, thought the same! Villain straight up said “the way the world works.” Lots of 7-9 unleashes. Plot being too convenient for the sake of drama, moments of truth, heroes enforcing their lessons.

    Good movie, too!

  2. Agreed. One thing I love about Masks is that you can make the same character in different playbooks and it still works. Depends on what you want to focus on with the character. This movie he was more Beacon, but in Spiderman 2 he was very much a Janus.

  3. You referring to the powers choices, or the Moves? I always take the power choices with a grain of salt.; they are really not even guidelines, just sample suggestions.

For example, I have a Beacon character whose powersets includes gadgetry and hacking. 🙂

  4. Well, they are a little bit. If youre too free with the power suggestions, you end up with characters that feel different than the playbook.

The example in the main book is a beacon with super strength and toughness starts to feel less vulnerable, a transformed with shapeshifting into other people lessens his theme identify as well.

I try to stick as close to the playbooks as possible, just because I can many people can work well and more creatively INSIDE the box than out, and it STILL provides tons of choices.

  5. Morgan Robertson, sure, taken to the extreme it can cause problems. But as long as you stay close to the theme of the playbook, it’s not that big of a deal.

For example, I’m playing a Beacon with a powerset of Gadgetry and Hacking, taken from the Delinquent, while another player has a Janus with energy-absorption powers.

  6. Actually just watched it again yesterday. On my second watch, I slightly disagree with my previous statement. There was a lot of Janus in this. But definitely Beacon personality though.
