Just so you know everyone: the international store is completely sold out of The Veil after the Cascade Kickstarter (wow!). That just leaves those copies available at IPR. I’m not sure if they’re tracking the numbers on hand very well, I think they might look at the stock monthly, but that’s just a guess. I’ve checked how many they say they have every few weeks and sometimes the number doesn’t change at all despite having been messaged by people who bought copies….sooo who knows!

We will for sure need a second print run, which is amazing! So, I scanned the InDesign file of what should have been used for the first printing and was not, due to the printer’s error. Found 1 typo from that. And we just updated The Veil DrivethruRPG with the second print run files, which are pretty refined. There are move clarifications, terms that are capitalized, one less typo, etc.

I also was notified the original PDF bookmarks weren’t working anymore so manually fixed those. So, if you want to look at the 2nd print run PDF (and Ref sheets to match), you can download them now. And, if you somehow have a PDF without working bookmarks, you can also re-download the file with fixed bookmarks.

Thanks a lot everyone!

  1. Excellent, Fraser! You are definitely one of the most conscientious and dedicated game designers. Prepping for running my Gauntlet game this week, looking through the book, and I still can’t get over how great the content and art is!

  2. Thanks! I think the book turned out great too. Really bugged me they didn’t use the correct file though. You’ll notice a few changes to moves that, I think, make them a lot more clear and balanced. Empath in particular is pretty changed, otherwise only a couple other moves were refined in the second printing PDF, which should have been 1st.

  3. There’s only a couple tweaks to moves without changing them much. The Honed’s ability to not spike out something is once per session. I’ve expressly said a miss is a golden opportunity on two moves, mmm lots and lots of capitalization of terms. Nothing to anything pertinent system wise. The reference sheet is MUCH cleaner and nicer looking. Improvements were added/tweaked.

  4. If you guys downloaded them sooner than around 10 minutes ago, re-download them. Drivethru did not upload them properly but I think they are good now.

  5. There should be 2P and 2P ref sheets. Then the same file name for the core text “Final” one was updated as well with bookmarks because they weren’t working.

  6. Ok, excuse me, I’m trying to follow, but got a bit lost, here.

I am a laaaaate, backer, a Data runner; didn’t know a thing about this game until maybe june 2017.

I wanted a physical copy, but the store is halfway around the globe, so I decided for a PDF of both books.

Now if I were to buy a physical copy of THE VEIL at (say) a german store, TOMORROW, what would I get? A “wrong” copy?” One with “wrong” files?

Yes, I look confused and out of key, but

    1) I like the game like no other in the genre

    2) The PB alone are worth everything

    3) heck if I know with whom I’m gonna play it, for now

    4) I’m into AW2ED, Urban Shadows and MotW, all at once.

    5) It’s business budget time, at work

  7. Diego Minuti The “wrong” files means there’s two typos and the terms are not capitalized. The second printing clarifies, I think, 4 moves but they remain the same moves.

The only big difference is The Empath, after some feedback I decided to not make the Absorb move the primary source of Flow for them. There’s an extra move and Absorb itself is clarified because it was confusing.

I’m happy it’s selling so well that we can do another print run and have that stuff included but if it had only one print run I’m still really proud and OK with the first printing text as is. But I certainly wanted the second printing to reflect the hours of work I put in, and the other proof readers, that didn’t make it in there.

  8. Jerry Sköld thanks a lot, much appreciated.

Joshua DeGagne cool! Yeah Second Print run is still a bit away. When IPR depletes its stock then it’ll happen but I am certain it’ll be happening at least, so made the PDFs available.

  9. They’re really expensive for the higher quality PoD options there. We could see about making a hardcover PoD but, like I say, it’d be expensive since Drivethru takes a big cut in their percentage via that method. Their costs are pretty high.

  10. I’m curious: there are 2 playbook in the Glitch City quickstart that aren’t in the game itself – the Aesthetic and the Percipient. Are they available anywhere as ‘normal’ playbooks, i.e. in the format of the others and without pre-selected details?

  11. Is it possible to get an updated version of the playbooks pdf through IPR? I purchased my copy through there and it looks like the pdfs are still for the 1st printing.
