Hey guys I’ve DMed a game of monster hearts in the past, had a great time, and now that monster hearts 2 is now out I really wanna get a new game started. Unfortunately due to distance and some toxic relationships ending I’ve lost a sizable portion of my potential players. Does anyone have tips for being able to use the old lore from the previous game with new players? And where’s the best place to find new players?

  1. 1. I would generally ignore the previous “lore”, if by lore, you mean how monsters and stuff work. generally good to let the players who are playing that skin now establish how their character works

    2. Do you mean online games, or in person> because I can help you with the former, but I can’t recommend places for in person stuff.

  2. josh savoie 1. I more ment like bringing some of the older characters and problems. I thought it would be a nice treat for my seasoned guys but like I don’t wanna alienate them. Ex: I got a lot of stuff about the vampire coterie I would hate to waste.

    2. Definately online. It’s always seems to be the easiest for everyone

  3. 1. I don’t think there’s anything preventing you from bringing over settings and characters from old games to new ones.

That being said, if you’re starting a new game with a new group, why not have a new setting and new characters?

  4. 1. oh, cool, yeah, if they fit with the theme, totally reuse unused prep, do it up (I’ve reused bad guys for masks in like 3 games now, just because I’m bad at superheroes)

    2. Okay, follow up, Play-By-Post, or roll20/discord/(other things to that use), and do you have a platform already chosen?

  5. josh savoie I was thinking roll 20 so we had a physical board and we weren’t using the honor system. I was doing it exclusively via Skype before for the last two campaigns.
