How does money and markets work exactly?

How does money and markets work exactly? I am having a hard time wrapping my head around it. Maybe if someone can provide some examples. So far it has not come up in our “Traveller” game but I can guarantee it will and I would like to be well armed with knowledge when it does. Thanks much in advance!

  1. Here’s how I always did it, aided by seeing Sean Gomes do it in play.

    A) what you can buy depends on what’s available in the market, first and foremost – you probably can’t buy Class 2 or 3 weapons at an every day market, you gotta head uptown with the criminal folks. Good luck!

    B) how much credit you have depends on your group and character – someone playing a rich aristocrat, yeah they can probably buy that C3 land speeder. A scoundrel on every bounty hunters docket, hell no you ain’t got credit – you gotta barter.

    C) rolling to acquisition the questionable things results in the fun and drama. That aristocrat buying some knives is no big deal – we won’t roll for that. Buying that speeder though, let’s roll. Oh a 6? Shit, there’s a lock on your accounts. You brother? Why would he do that?!
