Just wrapped up our sixth session of a game set in Los Angeles.

Just wrapped up our sixth session of a game set in Los Angeles. That’s about halfway through the planned length of our campaign, and we topped it off with a PC death. Román the Fae was killed when he trusted the wrong people with a big secret, and they came for him.

It made me wonder, how do other MCs handle PC death in Urban Shadows? I’m not looking for advice, but rather I want to hear about the high stakes situations where your PCs bet their lives and lost them. Did they run out of Scars? Or did they decide that their character’s story had come to a close?

  1. The finale to my Nashville game earlier this year had my Vamp sacrifice her life to prevent the nature spirit that was inhabiting the statue of Athena from taking over our Wizard’s mind. Her one life goal was to die – it was amazing.

  2. Character decision. A player set up a high stakes meeting between two fae rulers and secretly intended to fight one of them. The fight did happen but despite all odd player was rolling only 6-, the final roll of last chance was 7-9 and player decide that the only way he can trap the fae ruler in a magical trap is if he traps himself there as well, and so it happened, the two of them locked in magical wizard trap till the end of time.
