So, when making a “Take Down” move using a ranged weapon (Bow and Arrow) or power (lightning bolt), would you still use Smash, or would Maneuver be more appropriate?

  1. Is it a quick flurry of bolts or a huge lightning bolt from all over your body? It depends on how you describe it, how you imagine it in the fiction.

  2. I would lean toward Smash described that way. Only using Maneuver if they specifically were going more for speed… and even then, it matters how they describe things because it might not even be a Take Down move triggered at all, but maybe a Seize Control move or an Aid/Interfere. It all depends on the words used to trigger the move.

As for the Smash vs Maneuver, the question is: was the attack described as being speedy (Maneuver) or forceful (Smash)? “Just an average ranged attack” sounds forceful, hence Smash.
