Hi There.

Hi There.

Hi There.

I’m looking for a system to play Star Wars.

Currently first on my list is Impulse Drive. I played it and liked it. I know about Uncharted Worlds but i’ve never red it. Ther is also original SW system by FF Games.

Can you recommend any of these? Is Original SW system approachable for someone who is playing mostly PBTA systems? Maybe you have different idea

Thanks in advance

  1. Fantasy Flight Star Wars dice system looks more complicated as it is. But once you and your players know how to form a pool and interpret the symbols, it can really speed up gameplay. Also, if you can find a book, the out of print West End Games Star Wars RPG (2nd Ed. Revised was the latest version.) is a fun system and is used by the Spark Force 7 Organized Play At conventions.

  2. I have not played it; merely an archiver. 🙂 But I have read both of the above sets, and it looks like they might meet your criteria. Along related lines (although intended more as a Star Trek emulation), you might also get some use out of the Ship Playbooks from “Star World”: http://fictioneers.net/games/star-world

  3. Star Wars World isn’t “finished” because the author doesn’t want to get sued into the Stone age. 😉

It works very well, though. I’ve played a bunch of it

  4. I just picked up Scum & Villainy last night, and have been playing Blades in the Dark for a while… I’m going to see if I can’t convince my Edge of Empire group to convert to S&V!

  5. UW is good but it more GM centric than other Pbta (less pick lists on the moves, more leaning on GM to make 7-9 decisions. The communal XP is pretty neat though, and so is the character building being outside the usual Pbta playbook paradigm.

  6. West End’s D6 system is very simple (although I’d personally recommend 2nd ed or later rather then the 1st ed – its a mixed bag of changes to the system but, IMO, more good than bad).

  7. The amount of response is what I expected from the PBTA community. Thank you. You are the best. Now I have to read about these systems and choose one. Maybe something a little different than PBTA.
