I’m excited to run Epyllion but am having trouble finding different colored glass beads or something similar. Was wondering if you guys knew of source or had some creative ideas for substitutes?

You know those flat marbles they sell at some pet stores for aquariums and the like? Those work. And they’re not usually all that expensive. You can also find them at craft stores.
Dollar Tree carries them sometimes too, though the color variety is a bit of a crapshoot.
Henry de Veuve I checked online for some pet stores and couldn’t find them. Do you have a link or are they not available online?
Well hey, if you’re shopping online there are plenty of options on amazon.

Chris Czerniak Regrettably I do not. I got some of mine at a PetSmart several years ago, some at Michael’s, and the others were (ahem) repurposed from one of my spouse’s crafting projects. No idea where she got those. They used to sell these in gaming stores too, as counters for That Collectible Card Game, but at a bit of a markup. (tninks) Party supply stores might have something, too.
James Etheridge Thanks for the link James. I tried amazon before and ended with with tiny 1cm beads. These look to be 1in.
Your typical set of poker chips comes in black, green, blue, and red. Clay chips have a wonderful weight and sound to them.
I used some plastic gems I bought from Amazon. There were dozens of gems of at least 7 colors that I bought for less than $10. They have worked really well.
If you have Splendor the board game those poker chips could work. Also the dollar stores as mentioned sometimes have that shit like the flattened marbles
Well, the gems from amazon were a good size but the colors were random. So, I ended up with two blue and 10 red and 4-6 of every other color. Luckily, I found blue and green glass beads at the LA con and a friend of mine had left over heart shaped beads from Valentines day. I already have purple and clear so that is enough for 5 players. Hope everyone else has an easier time finding tokens than I did.
Late, but this is an evergreen Epy topic.
Michael’s is my primary source for my collection, although any bead store can probably work too.
I buy strung beads during sales. Usually I’m looking for something I get 8-12 of per strand, maybe less if I’m looking to buy more strands. Most of my tokens are 1-1.5″ in width. Plastic works fine but you can also jump up to shell or semiprecious stone, which craft stores usually carry under slightly different brands.

For glass counters, in addition to the pet store stuff and table scatters they’re often decorative vase filler.

I got mine in the pet section at Walmart.
One set of warm color gems and one cool color set and then a mix pack
