Is there a playbook designed around the “Future Me Scares Me” trope?

Is there a playbook designed around the “Future Me Scares Me” trope? I’ve been tossing around in my head basing a character off a future or alternate reality version of another player’s character. It kind of feels like this could work with any playbook that shows a clear contrast with the ‘true’ version of the character, but was curious if anyone has come up with something to specifically capture that idea.

  1. Cool and thanks! It looks like this assumes the other version is going to be an NPC. I dig it a lot but not quite what I’m aiming for. I’m thinking it will be easy to manage with existing playbooks, provided I can find another player interested in it, match a present day Beacon with a future Nova, or a present day Legacy with a future Transformed, or present day Protege with alternate universe Delinquent.

  2. The Joined has you pair up with another Playbook as, functionally, two matching heroes or two halves a superheroic identity, or whatever. The playbook is all about the growing pains of being in one anothers’ shadows and growing apart as you grow into your own heroes. By default it isn’t being scared of your other half, but I really truly bet you could pull this off with the Joined.

  3. The Harbinger, from the upcoming Secrets of AEGIS book, is about a character from the (/a) future, so that might also be good to throw into the mix as an option. A playtest version is currently available for those who backed the kickstarter.

  4. Alfred Rudzki Hitchcock I did end up making a Joined for my game and it’s been great so far. Our main setting is a very dark timeline, and I play the well adjusted version of our Transformed from an alternate timeline. It’s been a ton of fun so far
