I have one doubt regarding the following move in The Professional playbook:
Bottle It Up: If you want, you can take up to +3
bonus when you act under pressure. For each +1
you use, the Keeper holds 1. That hold can be spent
later—one for one—to give you -1 on any move
except act under pressure.
Is there any limitation on the use? Can be used several times per session? Is the maximum penalty to later moves limited to -1?
For me it seems a bit OP.
Any thougths on this?
No, use it as much as you like.
No, there’s no limit to just “-1” being laid on you later.
So, take as many bonuses as you want, the Keeper will extract exactly that many penalties from you later.
Monster of the Week What’s the meaning of One-for-one then?
Juan Lonsan Just that for each hold the Keeper spends, there’s a -1 penalty. So it can be spent all at once, or here and there… whichever is preferred.
Monster of the Week Thanks! 🙂
Keep in mind that it does have a specific move trigger: you have to be Acting Under Pressure.
I know, it is explained in the description of the move. My concern was due to the fact that I initially considered that I, as Keeper, was limited to a penalty of -1. Now it is clearer.
Thank you all.
What I love about this move is that it models the Professional as a pressure cooker – great at keeping their cool, but that control bleeds out to affect everything else they do
