Is there a way to do inheritance for an NPC faction?

Is there a way to do inheritance for an NPC faction?

For example. Hook is out exploring with his buddies from the local scavenger tribe “The Scrappers”. Another player wants in on the action and decides to write up a quick character, taking on the role of Schrapnel, the lead scrapper on the expedition.

“The Scrappers” are an NPC faction, not a Family playbook, and therefore have no inheritance. So what happens here?

  1. Hmm, interesting! I guess in that situation, the best bet is to work out which Family playbook suits the Scrappers, and let someone pick an inheritance move from that playbook.

  2. James Iles good idea! I might hack the game a little later to give each faction inheritance moves based on their surpluses (Like the GM moves you get for them)

  3. Yeah, that’s a good idea! If they’re going to be a constant element in your game, it makes sense to build a set of inheritance moves. Check out the guidance on creating your own Family playbooks, pg. 259 in the Hacking the Game chapter, if you need some inspiration.
