  1. The Warren might be a good pick. It’s got it’s darker edge, but there’s definitely a toned version you could play with young children. It’s pretty rules light too. It’s not written specifically for that though. ☹️

  2. Stu I mean, I feel like there is a significant number of (now adults) who watched the Watership Down movie and were only slightly scarred for life.

  3. Yanni Cooper lol. Agreed. I remember watching it a few times. I think I liked it, and wasn’t too scarred. 🤣 I do think that kids stuff can definitely have a dark tone – just wanted to clarify for making recommendations. It also has mating and reproduction in it, but again it has alternative rules if people want to switch them out for something more tonally appropriate.

  4. Yanni Cooper Watership Down (especially the book) revolutionised how I saw rabbits – made them far more interesting. What devestated me as a child was Artax in Neverending Story.

  5. Nicholas Hopkins I have that too, I must read it! My fault for backing so many PbtA (and other RPGs) on kickstarters (and having a child) – is never having the time to actually read them when they come out.

  6. Grey Kitten Hi! I’m the designer of Princess World, touch base with me off list if you’d like more information. PW isn’t exclusively for kids, but it’s being designed to be very accessible for them.

I actually had my first two playtests with kids this past weekend! (Prior to that, only adults had played it.)

One group was five players (three boys, two girls) aged 10-12, and they had a great time. The second group was three boys, aged 8-12, and three parents (never mind their ages!), and it was also a great success, according to all involved.

I hope to be running at least one slot of it at #DexCon in July, possibly more.

Look for #PrincessWorld for some of the open development stuff.
