What is/are/were your longest-running campaigns/characters?
I’m just curious what everyone’s usual length for a campaign has been. Do you find players switching playbooks when they’ve gained the advances to keep the campaign going, or do they keep choosing advances above the line, or do you just decide that the game has gone as far as it can after a certain point?
Thank you in advance for your answers.
I’m also interested in this and it’s been nagging at my mind
The current group I am in has done a number of games / systems, but Masks has currently run 39 (more or less weekly) episodes with no sign of real slowing down.
We have had one character swap playbooks at least once, one character (myself) swap characters (to someone else in the original character’s NPC orbit), and another about to do the same.
I’m deep into year two of Masks, something like season 2.5 or 3. Probably something like 30+ games at this point.
All of the original PCs remain, but the Delinquent has gone Beacon, the Outsider is probably about to go Reformed, and the Protege is on the verge of going Doomed.
Have either of you had one of your PCs run out of advances to take, or does the earning of potential tend to trail off after awhile because of the way locking labels works?
I’m playing in the game with Dave Hill, and right now my character is sitting around 10-11 advances (forgot exactly how many he took as a Janus). XP doesn’t seem to slow down due to locked labels (in fact if you lock a label low, you’re basically guaranteeing more XP for yourself). The only thing that seems to have affected how much XP I was getting per session was which playbook I was in. Janus is an XP powerhouse, its teamwork moves and a couple of its playbook moves are focused on gaining XP. Nova has fewer options to gain extra XP, so its really slowed down since switching to that playbook.
Our current group has been going about 20 sessions. Most everyone has unlocked the upper tier of advancement. Nobody has changed playbooks.
Joshua R. Leuthold No one has run out of Advances, yet. But soon, I figure it might happen. But then there’s changing playbooks and how it allows for more advancements.
Cool, thanks everyone for the info!
