There have been sightings of a large, horse-like creature in the woods. The hunters arrive just in time for the local Renaissance Faire, coincidentally taking place in the neighboring fairgrounds.

I needed a quick mystery to use in tonight’s game, and this is perfect! Too often I have the monster be something to kill, and this time they’ll have to think outside the box.
I might even have those who have captured it somehow benefitting. Unicorn blood has remarkable properties to make someone strong and powerful, perhaps?
Joe N Great to hear! Both unicorn blood and horn has magical powers, according to various legends. Back in the day, grifters would try and sell narwhal horn as unicorn with amazing curative properties. Maybe I’ll add that to the document? Let me know how it goes!
Rebecca Veverka Game went very well! Since one of the new hunters had a backstory tied in with hunting werewolves, I added in some werewolves also looking for the unicorns.
We decided at the table that unicorn horns slice through people like lightsabers.
In the end, in a final showdown with locals jacked up on unicorn blood, they reunited the two unicorns who then tore into their captors!… with their lightsaber horns. 🙂
