Question about the “Withering” Faerie Magic.

Question about the “Withering” Faerie Magic. Is it intended to be triggered via “Unleashing an Attack”? Or is it triggered just by the Fae touching someone (perhaps after using Keep Your Cool as described in the rulebook)?

On the one hand, it’s definitely doing violence. On the other hand, it’s quite an expensive move, and needing to Unleash (via the Fae’s worst stat) on top of that might put it over the top. It’s also not specified that it’s a weapon that requires Unleashing (as Elemental Weapon does) so I was thinking that it might simply be triggered “When the Fae touches someone and they choose to Wither them”. But it’s not entirely clear to me. Any thoughts?

  1. The Faerie Magic just imbues your touch with the power to kill. To actually kill someone with it is probably Unleashing an Attack, but it might not be if the target’s unable to resist, or if it’s done by accident as a consequence of someone else’s action, etc.

  2. Follow the fiction. What are you doing to touch the person? Do you seduce them in for a kiss? Persuade. Do you slap them across the face? Unleash. Do you trick them into touching you? Mislead. Do you extend your hand for a handshake, in a situation where they have no reason to be suspicious? I probably wouldn’t require a roll at all.
