I’m sure this has been answered so if it has please feel free to link me to the post. I love GMing masks, but shortly I would only have two players and myself as Game Master. Can you make a good dynamic story with 2 people? Like a a buddy partner team, or does mask only work with a a larger team.

  1. We have a larger party in our game, but we’ve had satisfying split adventures where two people are tracking down one lead and two people are in a larger fight. So I think it can be done.

    Maybe just think more about how their NPCs can connect to each other, so they don’t wind up with split worlds outside their connection to each other.

  2. My partner and I are doing a solo hero game right now (he’s GM and I’m a reformed villain hero) and it’s been going really well. I’ve also GMd a few 2-player sessions with my regular group which is usually only 3 players. So yeah, I’d say you can totally run a 2-player game.

    I agree with Linda and Leah’s advice about NPCs. If you create an NPC cast that your players can really connect to and play-off of (or against) it will keep everything feeling full and dynamic.
