I’m assuming this is kind of an up to the GM and player thing, but is there an official location of Halcyon City?

Just south of Brockton Bay, northeast of Gotham.
officially no. I think the book describes it as ‘an everytown that is wherever you want it to be.’
PbtA games aren’t the type of game to assign something that precise, because they push for narrative freedom.
Our group debated on a couple possible locations including the moon and ended up settling on it being a floating city originally built by silver age heroes off the coast of southern California.
I was actually leaning toward So Cal for a potential game
The fact that Halcyon, California is a real town nearish to where we were thinking the bridge to Halcyon City would connect was an amusing coincidence.
Put it next to Memphis. That’d be interesting.
Pacific Northwest here 🙂
I usually put it as replacing New York in a sense.
Being European here I’ve actually placed Halcyon City on the French coast, in an alternate version of La Rochelle, much expanded and developed compared to our real version of it. It puts it fairly central in the world, with lots of variation in its surrounding area. Given my universe takes a divergence from ours around World War 2 due to the implication of powered people and super-forces the placement of a futuristic and prominent city in France felt right, without resorting to a place like Paris that my players would perhaps be able to imagine in its current form a little too well.
I sort of toyed with Australia or Canada but the thought of all the bad attempts at accents gives me pause.
