How many players can play The Sprawl before it breaks? I’m asking because there’s a con that requires 5 or 6 players as a game minimum size.

How big have your Sprawl games been? Most I’ve ever done was 4 players which seemed ideal.

  1. It’s the usual story… mechanically it’s fine with more players, but the more you have, the more you struggle to ensure everyone has the opportunity to contribute to a mission. And obviously, that’s essential for a con game, since it’s a one-shot, no chance to smooth things out over a longer campaign.

  2. It’s Dundracon in the far east bay of the SF Bay Area. I’ve debating about running games there because of the mandatory large game size and my own experiences as a player. But, I love The Sprawl and had wonderful experiences running it at Big Bad Con, and I want to spread the gospel…

  3. It’s kind of a grognard con where you’ll find 10 player games of Hero/Champions or 8 player games of 4th edition Call of Cthulhu…but it’s been getting better lately with more indie stuff.

  4. I have a similar problem with the con that just started in my region. The local Pathfinder society is being very greedy.

    Good luck to you though!

  5. Ray Cox Conventions do like larger games, though… a game with 4-5 players still needs about as much space as a game with 6-7, so from an organisational point of view, the more the better.
