I have trouble with this limitation: My character’s power does not help with gaining access to places they normally couldn’t. (or does it grant them some mode of transportation like teleportation, flight, wall-crawling, super-speed, etc.)
My character has claws that let him pass through walls by tearing it up. Does this means it “heps” my character to gain access to places he normally couldn’t?
And yet, if a power just give the character a mean of transportation does it’s also considered a limitation?
I agree that it’s a bit of a grey area with demolishing things – In the case of this limitation the main point is about freedom of movement rather than capabilities for destruction so what I tell players for playtesting is that you can’t take the limitation if you can do things a normal person wouldn’t be able to do – flying, walking through walls, wall-crawling, teleportation.
I don’t understand that last question – if you have an ability that allows you to do these kinds of things it’s not a limitation. Getting into and going places that people can’t normally go. It’s a limitation to NOT have some means of special transportation or to be able to get to and into places they normally couldn’t.
Ok with the first part on the answer. So clearly my character does have the limitation as he doesn’t have any transportation power.
The question on the second part would be if the limitation apply only if the transportation power can only be used for movement. For instance, imagine the flight power. It could be used to trample and enemy or smash through a door at high speed besides the obvious transportation use. So, what if I limit it just for the movement aspect? Is that a limitation? Another example would be a teleportation power usable only for self teleportation.
You don’t take a limitation in that case either, no – limiting it just to movement does not allow you to take the limitation because the limitation is about range and freedom of movement only. In regards to using a power only for self-teleportation you would be able to take the limitation about only being able to use it on one target at a time.
Understood. Thanks.
