Moment of clarity: professional wrestling is a genre of procedurally generated and/or interactive fiction. Beyond the script and booking, part of the procdure is the match itself and the reactions/recontextualization of the audience. Which is why:
1. It feels bad when a story is “pushed” incoherently. “Check out my Paladin, Rocky Maivia guys! He’s super attractive and is the key to defeating the forces of heel.”
2. WWWRPG just gets it right!!11eleven
More of a personal moment of clarity / rehashing of the essays in the book, tbh.
Yeah, “incoherence” is a big fucking deal.
If I cite my favorite reference about pro wrestling one more time, Nathan will beat me to death with a metal folding chair. But you’d like it, Dev Purkayastha! It’s all his fault I can’t say it!
