This is a great article about New Jack, a man who legitimately scares me.

The worst part about the ECW episodes on the Network are that they dubbed over Natural Born Killaz (that looped throughout his matches) with an even more annoying siren effect.

Assume the supplement is a book, same size and format as the core WWWRPG book, maybe 2/3 of the page count (~100 pgs vs 160) at the same trim size. Contains the overview and some new rules for Lucha Libre, Japanese wrestling, British grappling, modern Indie style; essays (similar to the ones in the core book) on Lucha and Puro; rules for extended play and optional rules for backstage stuff, etc.

Time to reprint!

Time to reprint!

Time to reprint! With what I’m ordering today, I’ll have printed 1000 copies of WWWRPG in a year. With whats still in my closet, the IPR warehouse and on retail shelves, I roughly estimate 600 or so print copies have gone out into the world to individuals.

That’s amazing, and thank you so much to everyone whos:

– supported me on Patreon

– backed the Kickstarter

– purchased the game from my webstore

– purchased the game from your FLGS

– purchased the game from an online outlet (IPR, DriveThruRPG, or a retail website)

– read the game

– played the game

– run the game

– talked about the game

You are all amazing. Sales are not the only indication of success or quality, but they sure are a good way to make sure I keep doing this.

Here’s to the next thousand!

In my ongoing effort to learn more about lucha libre, I’m going to be watching the AAA Triplemania 32 show this evening! I don’t know if it’s mindful for this particular event or not but the card does seem to be built to appeal to people like me, who know the ex-WWE guys already.

I’m excited for that trios match, that looks dope!

Anyone else watching? Anything I oughta know going in? I’ve never watched a full AAA PPV before

Here’s what I got in my outline so far in terms of actual new mechanical stuff.

Lucha Libre: 2 new Gimmicks, The Luchadore and The Cultural Champion (need a better name for that, but basically the El Santo). Maybe a new “Exotico” Advanced Role.

A new Gimmick kind of shared by the next two: The Shoot Fighter

Puroresu: 1 new Gimmick, The Ace, plus how to play a Japanese Shoot Fighter

Catch Wrestling: new match stipulation – Mountevan’s Rules Match (basically the rules under which World of Sport matches were wrestled, includes a “public warning” alternate result in the Wrestling Move and some other stuff), plus how to play a British Shoot Fighter

Indie: 1 new Gimmick “The Indie Darling,” maybe a new Advanced Role “Foundational” (or something like that). Probably break out one of the Indie Darling’s moves into a whole match stipulation that covers modeling near falls.

Other new rules: Mythic Moments, Audience Moves, Promotion Moves, Backstage Stroke

Hacks/modifications: Slow Advancement, Promotion Advancement, Wars & Invasions

I’m aiming to have a shareable draft soon (mid-August?) for people to cherry-pick stuff they want to playtest out of.

So yeah, that’s the current state of things.

Alex “The Pug” Pourteau, someone I never heard of and listening to his story it matches pretty much exactly the kind of character I imagine in the Jobber Gimmick.

Of interest: a neat lady pro wrestling Twine sim. I played solo yesterday, and loved all of the rad production and wrestling jokez – I think the game itself is pretty straightforward for wrestling fans (especially when you play both sides, as I did), but totally worth exploring for the characters alone.

Also, Femmezuigiri (as a blog) is fighting the good fight in terms of covering women in wrestling and pushing back against toxic masculinity in wrestling, things I am totally on board with. Worth putting in your rotation.

Bonjour Francophones and francophiles! There’s a (nice, as far as I can tell, my french is super rusty) review of WWWRPG in the most recent Maraudeur e-zine, #17. Maybe Steve Jakoubovitch can find some other wrestling fans?!

There is no way in hell that I’m going to watch every G1 Climax match, but I made myself a match tracking sheet so I can make sure to catch the guys I want to see. Maybe if others are watching some of the finals it’ll be helpful for you?

I printed it out, am highlighting the matches I want to see, and then I check the ones I actually do watch.

Yay G1!
