Journeyman’s Cup Episode 3

Was a blast! We saw Matthew Caulder ‘s Razor return from beyond the grave as Scythe, a not-so-reluctant servant of Reaper; Joe Zantek ‘s Golden Boy Joey Crak had a not-so-impressive debut (that’s just begging for a second chance); Rohit Ramnath ‘s Bolt made a grand challenge to returning Veteran, Jason Cox ‘s Professor Atomo, and they engaged in an epic bout scored by WRESTLING SCIENCE. Unfortunately for Bolt, he was unable to overcome the Professor’s pro wrestling proficiency, but the two men were able to at least respect each other at the end…for now.

This session felt like it’s starting to really gel. The storylines are becoming more organic and surprising. I just realized while writing this that I’d intended for the Bolt/Atomo match to be a tournament match, but there was so much going on at the top of it that I forgot to say that out loud! Whoops. Maybe this will be one of those post-hoc “last week on” corrections that we’ll see at the beginning of the next show.

Stras Acimovic ‘s Reaper and Adams Tower ‘s Blind Man Simons both cast shadows over this episode even in their absence! Joseph Le May ‘s poor Brainburg did not make an appearance, but he’s a Jobber anyway…they just didn’t have anything for him this week, again, I guess.

Journeyman’s Cup Tournament: Episode 3

Ok friends, who’s available this Wednesday Oct. 22 for a Hangouts-on-Air third Episode of the Journeyman’s Cup Tournament?! 

I think we’ll aim to go live at 7.30 pm central time, but aim to be online and all set up and whatnots at 7 pm.

I am going to hard cap at 4 players this time. I think 5 with our roughly 2-hour playtime is a little more than I can cognitively handle over the internets. Sorry!

If we don’t have four out of you guys, I’m happy to add a new person or two to fill out, based on availability.

The recent Art of Wrestling episode with Shane Douglas is full of good stuff. There’s one anecdote I love, about how he won his first title (the UWF TV title). Apparently, it was supposed to be Sting vs. Eddie Gilbert, with Terry Taylor attacking Sting before the match, but Taylor hit Sting too hard with a chair and he couldn’t compete. So they shoved Shane Douglas out there and he expected to put Eddie Gilbert over, but it was called on the fly and Douglas ended up winning the title!

A cool example of how to apply some Creative Moves in WWWRPG, perhaps. Terry Taylor (or Sting) botches a roll, Creative says it means Sting’s too injured to compete and books Shane Douglas into the match, maybe Eddie Gilbert uses a Move to give Douglas the win.

Working on the game text some today. 

Based on your understanding of the game so far (which I understand can be from “I see you talk about it” to “I’ve been playing the Beta”) what examples would you like to see? What seems difficult or mystifying or unclear?

I’m going to be doing examples throughout, but, y’know, having some specific areas to concentrate on can’t hurt!

I haven’t had the chance to do personal responses to the Season One wrestlers y’all have submitted, but there’s some great ones. I mean, they’re all beautiful sunsets, but there’s a couple that hit me just right and make me smile. I’m excited to showcase you monsters!
