Is the Encylopedia Draconica a thing? After picking up the paperback and falling in love with the game I checked out the kickstarter and it looks like a print and pdf supplement called Encylopedia Draconica was planned. I can’t find it on the Magpie site nor on DriveThruRPG. Anybody know? I’d love to buy it.

I have decided that I am going to run Epyllion for the first time (eek) at a con (double eek) this weekend (triple eek) as the first game I have ever run in a public setting (quadruple eek).

I know that it is not the best idea to come up with constructed plots and to let the story just happen, but I am a little nervous about not having some things planned in advanced and was looking for a bit of advice!

My main concerns are; this is probably the first time a PBTA game has been run at this con, so I will likely have players that are used to GM direction/prompting instead of taking on the coolest part of the PBTA system which is helping to shape the story. My other concern is that I won’t be able to come up with something on the fly (hazards, NPC goals/desires, solutions to problems) or come up with a satisfactory wrap up when the session is up.

Would it be better for me to come up with 3-4 hazards/plot hooks, a bunch of NPCs with problems, desires and goals and then just pick from that list based on how the session is running? For example, if I get a group that is really interested in exploring the traditions of Dragonia, I’d pick a hazard that remains in the city, or if theya re more interested in an adventure, I’d pick a hazard that has to do with exploring the wilderness.

Thoughts?

I am new-ish to running PbtA games and am having a struggle with the game I am currently running for my family.   There are no moves for observing/examining a non-magical location or object.   Is the point to always have the player observe something arcane or ancient?  Do I just give them the info or ask them about it, if the place is not arcane/ancient ?   The players keep asking me about things that do not fit that move and I am at a loss sometimes.

Any help for a newer GM?

I will be starting up my first game of Epyllion soon.   What do people use to draw on the map of Dragonia online?   Is there a preferred easy to setup whiteboard (or something like that) tool out that that you would recommend?

My friends and I have had Tuesday as game nights for a few years, but I have never run a game. Ever. On any system.

After finding out about Epyllion, I got really excited. All the guys were interested in playing (I am the only female player), but seem a little wary about some of the world building aspects.

We’ve recently played Mage with a new DM and they have a style that makes me think I can do this.

I want my drakes to have the best experience possible.

Any advice to an older newbie that loves dragons?

I’ve read the book and host a game session, however there’s still something unclear to me, which is the Darkness part.

1. Does Darkness appear as a real entity like a shady figure or dark beasts? Or is it just an abstract power of corruption, existing inside every dragons? Or what else could it be?

2. The Seer’s move “Touch the Darkness” states that it triggers when the Seer consumes a piece of Darkness. What kind of actions should trigger this move? Is there an example?
