Looking for some suggestions of good segues to introduce new NPCs. My Delinquent player has a vague backstory(Not even sure about his origin) and he implied that he came to Halcyon to escape his past. His powers are Illusions and Power Negation if that helps. Also, his parents are dead as far as he knows. We already had a talk about him being vague and he wants to address it in-game, so I’m more looking for situations where it feels natural to ask some probing questions about his past to make new NPCs than anything else. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Oh I forgot, For relationships he put down A temate for the stunt, and The Silver Savoir for Thinking better of him.

Hello all.

Hello all.

Hello all. First time posting. Our large group (7 of us) has gotten one session under our belts. Still not finished fleshing all the questions out but playing again this Saturday. We’ve been talking about a team name…we’re horrible at coming up with one. I’m curious what other groups have used as team names. Please share so I can steal / be inspired.

Has anyone found any significant differences between the Initial and the Final HCHC playbooks?

So far, I’ve only spotted a couple of typos and some formatting. But if there’s more (especially for the Reformed, Newborn or the Innocent, because I’ve got all 3 in a game currently) I’d be very grateful to hear from someone more perceptive than I.

How would you handle latecomers in a group?

I got two possible groups, but for both not all players who could play would be available for the first story. So if later (in session 2 or 3) another player joins the team, should we do another “When the team first met” round of questions? What about the Relationships (which would probably be already filled at session 0/1)?

Anyone already had this problem?

I’m kicking around the idea of a Masks pbp (this isn’t recruitment just yet).

I’m kicking around the idea of a Masks pbp (this isn’t recruitment just yet). I’m stuck using http://www.rprepository.com/ because a few of my friends work state jobs and that’s when they’d have the time to actually post.

The interface there’s kinda limited, so I’m wondering if anyone has ideas or ways to make adjusting labels, marking conditions and gaining influence something really easy to do and keep track of in pbp format.

I have a question about The Joined.

At present, there isn’t a clear indication of how the Joined interacts with the other new playbooks. Is there a good rule of thumb for applying the joined to new or fan playbooks without explicit instruction and/or is explicit instruction forthcoming?

So, I had some idle time the other day and was mulling over something I’d like some other thoughts on.

So, I had some idle time the other day and was mulling over something I’d like some other thoughts on. How hard do you think it would be to adapt Masks to something more urban fantasy, dealing with the children of gods instead of superheroes? Kind of a Percy Jackson or teenage Scions game. There’d be a shift in tone, I think, but it seems to me that most of the mechanics of young, larger than life teenagers finding themselves in a world of crazy powers would shift over with only a mild repainting. Your Janus is pulled between a mortal life and the world of demigods, instead of masks and civilians. Your Protege has a hands-on parent or mentor spirit. Your Delinquent is the child of a trickster god, perhaps? The standouts as likely to be more difficult would be the Beacon and the Transformed, who would probably need a bit more effort to adapt. Anyway, what do you folks think?

What I was looking for earlier are the Bonds from Dungeon world.

What I was looking for earlier are the Bonds from Dungeon world. Apparently they are more involved in the mechanics than the relationships of Masks are. Can anyone elaborate on that and/or tell me if they’d work in Masks??

Is there a place where I can find more of the relationships and backstory fill in the blanks?

Is there a place where I can find more of the relationships and backstory fill in the blanks? I assume it’s an Apocalypse world thing (I seem to remember them being in the 2 sessions of Dungeon world I played years ago). The convention event had 4 for each of the 10 playbooks and I just think they’re awesome for world building.
