Me and Ross Cowman sit down and talk about Apocalypse World, some of our pet peeves with MCs running it poorly and tips for playing better.

Unfortunately we got cut off by technical issues before the end of the hangout. Hopefully we can do a part two, and maybe take questions from the community.

Does anyone know some sort of ‘wrongly raised’ skin for playing a character along the lines of Kullervo?

Does anyone possibly have a game starting up they could use another member for?

Does anyone possibly have a game starting up they could use another member for? Or an existing game they’d be willing to nudge one more in? The group I used to game with fell apart and I’d love to be able to play again. If anyone else is looking for a group maybe we could get something going, though I have no experience DMing and am not up to learning at the moment.

Quick question – just listening to The Cure’s Lullaby and I was wondering if there’s any spider based Skins.

I figure it’d be the sort of solitary outsider who just seems to hang back, watching, not moving or saying much, until that one thing triggers a reaction. Cold and methodical, not evil as such, just analytical and needing sustenance. Possible Moves include feeling the vibration of prey via Strings, general web and gravity-defying abilities, causing paralysis in victims…

So do people’s character’s have jobs?

So do people’s character’s have jobs? My Mortal started out with one, as I imagined her family wasn’t well off and she needed to help mom make ends meet.

I’m asking because being torn between friends and the responsibility of work seems great for causing drama. However there’s only so many times you can ditch work before you get fired (my Mortal actually got fired in our first session and is looking for a new job), but being at work takes you out of the action.

Thoughts on balancing what I thought would be a good source of drama?

So the only copy I have of the Angel playbook is the playtest version with no art on the cover.

Here’s a question; do you ever roll (or have players roll) for accidental moves?

Here’s a question; do you ever roll (or have players roll) for accidental moves? Or do you only break out the dice when the character has a specific goal in mind.

For example, if your character says something innocently or even to try and make someone feel better, but you the player happen to know this will probably make the other character feel worse. Do you roll to Shut them Down, or just say what you’re going to say and let them react however they want?
