Help me barf apocalyptica all over this!

We are starting an Apocalypse World game and we decided on a look/feel kind of like in the images here (especially the header image of this album).

Help me daydream some imagery and barf apocalyptica all over this!

I’ve been “playing” the indie PC game “This War of Mine”.

I’ve been “playing” the indie PC game “This War of Mine”. It’s like Sims During Wartime. It’s all about managing scarcity and hard choices, which strike me as a very AE kind of story elements.

So, what would you expect to see in a wartime game focusing on the civilian experience as opposed to those on the front? I’m picturing a game that’s less hyper-focused and, shall we say, “terminal”, than The Grey Ranks. Thoughts?

As If definitely want your thoughts on this.

Another actual play post for my Apocalypse World game. This session they kill Dustwich…twice.

OK I just reread Wick’s article on the thumb and teacup as deadly weapons and this:

“A roleplaying game is a game in which the players are rewarded for making choices that are consistent with the character’s motivations or further the plot of the story.”

My first thought of course is what rewards are available in RPGs?

Just off the top of my head:

• Points that can be traded

○To level up (xp)

○To buff numerical mechanisms (fate points)

○To change fictional outcomes

○ To change facts on a character sheet.

○ ? More

• Moves that reward behaviour by

○ Buffing numerical mechanisms

○ Changing fictional outcomes.

OK I’d like to hear more ideas on how to reward certain player behaviour in RPGs. I know telling an awesome story is the greatest reward, but I am looking for rule mechanisms here!

+ wanted one playtester (Tuesdays 7pm EST / 4pm PDT)

Beyond is all about the sorts of space adventures that make for great TV, movies and books. (see below)

The flavour: co-op adventure on the edges of known space and Beyond.

Beyond has been in playtest and public revision for several weeks and the excellent feedback has helped improve the game significantly. However more feedback will help make it even better.

– What do you like?

– What’s doesn’t work as well as it should?

– What’s good enough?

– What wants or needs to be better?

(FYI, work is currently focusing on more classes and a much richer setting creation section.  Still to come are sections on Episodes, Factions, NPCs, Foes, Locations, Adapting Beyond, Hazards, etc.)

Playtester wanted:

Unfortunately, we’ve lost one of our core playtesters to the demands of RL and would like to find a replacement.  Gaming is via Hangouts Tuesdays 4pm PST / 7pm EST.  If you’re good with providing feedback, can commit to a regular Tuesday evening and would like some fun sci-fi gaming please get in touch.

(FYI, we’ve one session 16 Dec before Christmas and will resume again in the New Year – unless, of course, we find the time tat suits everyone to fit in a extra session during the break.)

A magical girls themed Apocalypse World hack. Made for stuff like Kiki’s Delivery Service, Serenity Rose, and Cardcaptor Sakura. The slice of life fantasy mysteries/horror, rather than the tokusatsu superhero shenanigans. I’m going to be running this starting January.

Originally I was going to use Fate for this game, but last night I decided that a light Apocalypse World hack would be a better fit.
