I’m going for a screen tone B&W comic style that I loved when I first go into comics.

In the third Issue of High Impact Heroics we see four teenagers going about their daily routine: dealing with strange parental guardians, bucking authority, learning new things, and taking it easy. A day off goes south, however, when old faces return and their most dangerous adversary yet makes his debut. Plague Hack is on the move, and he has his eyes set on our heroes!

I’m still toying about with my soap opera hack, Liquid Soap, and I’ve come up with an alternative to the standard stat highlighting system to mark experience:

– When you roll with an unchecked stat, check it and mark experience.

– Uncheck all your stats at the start of a new episode.

So, instead of being encouraged to emphasize a particular set of moves related to one stat, you are encouraged to show many different facets of your PC by rolling with as many different stats as possible. Has this or anything like it been done in any other PbtA game? What are the upsides to it?

What’s your favorite established apocalyptic setting?

What’s your favorite established apocalyptic setting?

What’s your favorite established apocalyptic setting?

Comment if you have another suggestion, but preferably something that has more than a single movie, unless they really get into the world.

Hello!

Hello!

Hello! Today we have the conclusion of session 8! Kray and Wolf went shopping and then ran off to investigate The Put. Koo shows up a little later and does a good job taking advantage of one of the NPCs lack of knowledge about her bigger friends. It was a fun time!

Hi!

Hi!

Hi! I’ve been thinking about the ‘harm’ move in Apocalypse World. I like the extra randomness, but I’m not happy with having to roll again every time a PC suffers harm.

Here’s my idea:

When you exchange harm as a result of a battle move, take a look at the dice:

– For every die with a result of ‘6’, you inflict +1 harm or pick one extra option from the battle move.

– For every die with a result of ‘1’, the MC picks one option from the ‘harm’ move.

This practically does away with rolling the harm move in battle while keeping the same options in play, and gives ane extra randomness and a ‘crit’ feel to specific rolls.

Thoughts?
