Hello Apocalypse World community!

I am currently working on a little project, my first ApW hack based off of the Rogue-lite game Enter The Gungeon by Dodge Roll. So far I have fairly simple plans to get 4 to 6 Character Playbooks, some of which are based off of the main playable characters of the game: Marine, Pilot, Hunter and Convict. The gameplay will be heavily inspired by the game itself, with levels procedurally generated from a preset of areas (I will probably use some of the base principles of Perilous Wilds), gunplay, dodge-rolls and such.

So far I’ve only stated on working with the basic rules for both players and MCs, but I have a “demo” playbook of a Hunter character class. I would like to hear community’s opinion on it, as well as critique.

If anyone feels like checking out a playtest playbook, I’d be appreciative.

If anyone feels like checking out a playtest playbook, I’d be appreciative. Of course, without knowing much about the game I’m looking for obvious balance issues or problems with the built in playbook specific economy ‘Essence’. The playbook is from my own game – the Veil. Thanks!

And the other Fallen Empires playbook: the Outlander, a barbaric survivor. Again; draft. Still needs a lot of polish.

Hey all.

Hey all.

Hey all. Thanks for the couple of people who chimed in for the Battlebabe. I’m starting to work on compiling, finally, these words of wisdom into something that should be easy to hand out at the start of a game. Next up I’d like to hear your advice about the Gunlugger.

What is something all Gunluggers should try to do in game? What are some good goals for the most violent person in Apocalypse World? What are some of your best stories of Gunluggers in your game?

I have a crazy friend who is struck by this crazy idea for a Fallen Empires playbook.

Thanks everyone who chimed in with advice for people playing Skinners.

Thanks everyone who chimed in with advice for people playing Skinners. I’d like to hear about what you would suggest for folks that want to play BATTLEBABE. What are some good goals for a Battlebabe? What should a Battlebabe try to do in game?

The little bit of research and personal playing I got to do as a BB led me to understand that they are great for causing and getting out of trouble. BB’s can take a drastic stand on something and their +3 cool will get their butts out of any trouble that comes their way. When I played a BB I was in charge of security and when a riot started I walked into the middle of it, said “This stops now or you have to go through me” and using my cool to Go Aggro, I put the whole gang on their heels.

I also ran a game where the BB was in control of the only water supply in the area. She had the only green lawn in the desert and the Hardholder needed her to let the holding have the water. The Hardholder was a bastard and the BB was not going to back down from him. The HH threw just about everything he had at the BB and by the end, most of the holding was destroyed and the BB was still there.

BB’s are great “heroes of the apocalypse”. You can take on just about any threat, as long as you are clever. You may not beat it, but you can survive it. Be willing to take an extreme stand on something. Good or bad. That’s where I believe you’ll find the most fun.

Updating the Macaluso to AW2e

Updating the Macaluso to AW2e

Updating the Macaluso to AW2e

I freaking love this playbook, and I love 2e. Tragically, as it is now, I am forced to choose between the two

until now!

The Macaluso is actually a great candidate for update (though I understand why Vincent didn’t, it’s kinda niche, and apparently it was done for a special thing). All of the moves mesh perfectly with 2e, and the NPC rules have not (as far as I know) changed. so the thing that needs changing is Hx

So I wrote him/her/it a new Hx, in the hopes that he will be playable for fans of both editions, so here goes.

Everyone introduces their characters by name,

look and outlook. Take your turn.

List the other characters’ names.

Go around again for Hx. On your turn, ask 1 or both.

• Which one of you have opened your brain to me

For that character, write Hx+3

• Which one of you has resisted/rejected the maelstrom

For that character, write Hx-1.

For everyone else, write Hx+1. You have the

benefit of multiple points of view.

does this seem fair? even good? are there other questions they should ask?

First off, thanks to everyone that helped out with ideas for the Chopper, Brainer, and Hocus.

First off, thanks to everyone that helped out with ideas for the Chopper, Brainer, and Hocus. This week I’d like to discuss ideas on how a PLAYER can make the most out of the SKINNER playbook. What are some moves that you just love to use? What are some goals that Skinners should go for? What can a Skinner do in game that really gets the most out of the playbook?
