Ohh this was a lot of fun, though I was quite nervous. Despite gaming with Rich for a while, I always get super anxious on podcasts, can’t wait to give this a listen, though!

The latest +1 Forward is out! This one features The Veil with the creative Fraser Simons!

Fraser talks about using music to inspire characters, it’s a great chat and I’m inspired and doing this very thing today!

Curious about The Veil? Fraser’s AP is full of setting color and some neat tech. Hope you enjoy it!

I have finally purchased The Veil and I have some questions.

1. Have the Threat Clocks been removed from the base PbtA framework? Are the Antagonist or Questions intended to replace these?

2. I love the playbooks in The Veil but I find them to be pretty extreme/loaded examples of various cyberpunk archetypes and narratives. That’s great for each player but I find it difficult when viewing the PCs as a group.

Glitch City did help show how they can be positioned in such a way as to fit into a “Section 9” style group. However, does anyone have any advice on ways of grouping the PCs, or even altering the narrative around the playbooks so they weave together more (yes, that’s a broad question :))?

3. I note that Glitch City has the Aesthetic and the Percipient playbooks to help round out the group. These aren’t in the rulebook, and are the kind of playbooks that will help deal with 2. Are these playbooks from the upcoming KS?

To celebrate international tabletop day we’ve put together this Quickstart for The Veil: Cascade.

To celebrate international tabletop day we’ve put together this Quickstart for The Veil: Cascade. A supplement Kickstarting in May that will have more playbooks, what we’re calling “plugins” for playbooks that work similar to compendium classes. There’s going to be a piece inside by a PhD student breaking down the genre to help people play, more advice, and my personal favorite, a setting already put together with a adventure starter baked in. And loads more!

Please share this free Quickstart for it with anyone you can think of that might enjoy it and send us some feedback if you’ve played it! Enjoy, and think of us when the Kickstarter launches soon!

Ale is back at work! Putting together a supplement called Cascade for Kickstarter. New playbooks, compendium classes called plugins. Help with setting creation, an awesome chapter on cyberpunk a genre by a PhD candidate. Lots of art, a setting I’ve made, coupled with a pretty cool adventure starter. And more!

Hi Fraser Simons

Hi Fraser Simons,

I have some doubts regarding advantage. Why having advantage (3d6 keep best 2) instead of plain +1 ??

Is there any rationale behind? Math? Flavour? GM can give you advantage if the circumstances apply, and you can get +1 from moves. Do both things stack?

Traditionally in PbtA you cannot go above +1 no matter how much help you get. Can you get +1 and advantage at the same time in The Veil?

I’ve seen games using advantage and games using +1, but having both is a little wierd to me.

Couple of rules questions:

Couple of rules questions:

For the Catabolist: When it says in their moves “roll + omni-tool”, do you roll + State + omni-tool? The example seems to suggest so.

For the Seeker: Enlightenment is a stat not a resource (like the Hocus’ fortune), right? Meaning it is not spend on use?

Communion is just roll + Enlightenment, no State added? And in Guidance it is roll + State + Enlightenment?
