So I’m not sure if this is of interest to people or not, but it’s been enjoyable so far and I figured a thing is better shared than hidden.  I love Dungeon World, and have been fascinated with Sean’s hack here since he started the Kickstarter.  So I finally got around to starting a PbP game.

It’s only been going for one week, and Play-by-Post moves pretty slow, but there’s a great crew playing with us and could be a fun read for anyone interested in how this might look in action.  After the jump you can see the sub-forum, with the Game Thread and OOC stuff.  It’s likely pretty difficult to mesh the two together, but reading through the Game Thread is still pretty conversational.

Thanks Sean Gomes  for putting such an awesome game together, as we’re really enjoying playing it!

Me: “Aside from the splitting worms that have been keeping to the caustic tar patches, what other creature has been causing the expedition so much grief?”

Player: “There are these vine-dwelling rodents. They drop from above. They’re attracted to the lights, since all they normally get is the green-yellow of the acid tar pools.”

Me: (thinking, that doesn’t sound so bad). “So… why is the xenogeologist so afraid of leaving camp, then? Why is he terrified of them?”

Player: “They have a tendency to explode when spooked.”

And thus the BoomSquirrels were introduced. The creatures fill gas bladders with the acidic fumes from the caustic pools, then drift/drop onto sources UV light (normally given off by the pustule-fruit they eat). And then explode in an acidic fireball when startled.

Shame the characters mysteriously decided to call off their exploration of the planet. “We’ve seen all we need to fulfill our contract lets get the hell out of here”

Preparing characters for a new campaign in Sean Gomes’ playtest group.  All-random character generation: two military types, a pilot/engineer, and druggie who owns the ship.  We figure the rest of us are along for the ride while the druggie chases the next high and frantically tries to avoid whatever dealer he last pissed off.

We’re thinking of calling it “Fear and Loathing on the Galactic Rim.”
