Advanced Let It Out: this is the only move that’s really giving me trouble. How have you all handled it in your games? Is the new manifestation only good for further let it out? Should there be a new custom move made every time?

I’ve basically been giving it to our Spectre that it’s a new application or bonus, like a +1 to frighten mortals with a vision of terror.

That is, does the vamp generate debts whenever someone in their web asks them for a favor (for example), or only when someone enters the web?

What I’m putting forth is a “Tainted” the concept: the bearer of the Mantle of Medusa.

There are some pre-Hellenic matriarchal religions that are likely precursors to the Medusa myth. It is thought by some that the Medusa myth was an active demonization of these rival religions. In that other religion, Medusa acted as a mediator between the worlds, both the underworld and the overworld. Past bearers of the Mantle have been good, evil and in between, but the Mantle is just a cosmic force, not an intellect so it doesn’t care, but misusing its power is likely to lead to corruption.

So I figure her “Patron” is the Mantle and all the arcane and no-longer documented laws that it expects her to follow as the Mediator…not that it is actually sentient, but misusing it could be dangerous and she will occasional have issues she has to negotiate as her tasks.

I also figure that she was unaware of her inhuman heritage before accidentally taking on the Mantle and that there may be many other gorgons who feel that she does that deserve it…and thus out to recover the Mantle the only possible way: beheading her…or maybe the followers of Zeus will want to recover the force that imbued the Aegis with its power…also by beheading her.

Does this sound like a good tainted?  It’s a variation of a character I’ve played off and on in a few places (created her in 2004 or 2005 for City of Heroes)

So in my RL game one of the players is playing a Fae, and he’s waffling a lot on what he wants his relic to be.

So in my RL game one of the players is playing a Fae, and he’s waffling a lot on what he wants his relic to be.  Just curious what other players/MCs have used/seen as their relic?

On top of that, what have you, as an MC, done to bring the relic to the fore front in the game?

I have a question regarding the Hunter’s custom weapons.

I have a question regarding the Hunter’s custom weapons. One of the add-ons that can be picked for hand weapons is “Enchanted” which gives the “anchored” tag, but I’m not entirely sure what that means. It seems similar to Cold Iron/Blessed/Silvered, but is not mentioned together with them in the rulebook. In fact, the Hunter playbook is the only place where the tag is mentioned.

Thanks!

I need some advice. I’m getting ready to run a game in a week with slightly different goals, can you help decide which rules to use or change?

The original idea was to run Mage: The Ascension. The game is about doing stuff in an Urban Fantasy setting, but it’s also about creative problem solving with an open-ended magic system. After considering my options, I felt like US is really close to what I want so I made an archetype for it. My group has played Urban Shadows before, but they prefer slightly more traditional rules, like Call of Cthulhu. Some of them think that US is “soft”

Normally, everyone in the group plays a Mage. There’s enough variety in the archetype for everyone to have unique skills, but I don’t currently have different intro questions.

Also, since the party will all be in one faction, I’m worried that the faction and debt system will feel forced. I’m also not sure I want the game to be too political.

What advice can you give me? Which rules would you change or tweak to support this? Do you think Urban Shadows as written will make for an interesting game or will I be fighting the system?

Thanks guys!

Ya’ll aren’t kidding when you say the archetypes look great printed on legal paper.  These are gorgeous.
