In today’s game, Drew’s “Ulysses Abrams, Wizard Cop” decides to place blame for [minor inconvenience] at the feet of “Oh My God It’s A Demon Wearing Tattered Clownfleisch” Landon. Buh, whatever, I have assholes in white toques to slaughter.

I’m coming in on playing Urban Shadows with a group of completely new roleplayers and I realized that I hadn’t planned anything.  The reason for this is that with my regular group of gamers, they provided such richness to the world and happenings through the rumors that I felt like putting in my own plot-threads would have been doing them a disservice.

Has anyone run with completely new players yet?  How much prep do you do for Urban Shadows games either with newbies or in general?

One of the things that I am eager to do with Urban Shadows is create moves based on the Debt mechanic.

One of the things that I am eager to do with Urban Shadows is create moves based on the Debt mechanic. Both corruption moves where it could be “easier” (gain corruption and a bad reputation) to renege upon a debt but also character moves where debts gain more weight within the game as currency.

I’d love to hear advice from fellow players on how you manage the debt system and what tweaks you have added.

I just wanted to share that my group had done some play testing back in August, maybe even earlier, and than played some other games but we kept talking about US. So two weeks ago we updated characters and changed a few (our werewolf player hated his character is he is gone and our Hallowed didn’t want to let go of him so he is using an old sheet) and than played again. It has been awsome. We all just fell back into Charleston SC and our cast of beings.

The game is a joy. So we’ll done. From the Cedar Street Irregular of Belfast, Maine Thank You Andrew.

Does anyone want to run a US One-Shot this evening (or accessible to europe time)?

Andrew Medeiros archetype posts make me hungry to play this.

So I’ve been reading the Kickstarter preview for Beast: The Primordial (you can download 99% complete but unformatted book for free before backing). I’m not far in yet, but it makes me want to play a character like a Beast/Begotten in Urban Shadows. A couple things that jumped out are the way that they inevitably cause Heroes to arise and oppose them (and the more they hunt, the faster and more often that happens), plus the way that they consider other supernatural creatures and other Beasts to be part of their Family. There’s other cool things, too, but like I said I’m not far in yet.

I don’t have much to say at the moment except that the B:tP preview immediately made me think of playing one in Urban Shadows. At some point I may see if any of the existing playbooks would fit and, if not, maybe take a stab at creating one.
