Has anyone dealt with a change of playbooks after a label lock?

Has anyone dealt with a change of playbooks after a label lock?

I have a delinquent in the game I’m running that keeps mentioning that she might end up switching to a janus when she gets her 6th advance (we already have a genius little sister she supports and an alcoholic mom in the fiction) and last session she used her moment of truth to lock her savior (and introduce that the villain they were facing was actually her dead beat dad in perhaps the most shocking moment of role-playing I’ve ever been involved in).

Anyway. Do you keep the labels locked when you switch playbooks or unlock them and essentially start over? Would you still have access to adult moves?

I assume it’s more of a case-by-case basis, but wondering what the popular opinion is.

I’m looking for some advice, superfriends.

One of my players is playing the Transformed. His backstory involves a tragic accident in a science lab (duh) so he was going for a super smart kind of character (Beast and Cyborg).

Last session he had his character try to hack a security system. It was totally out of his list of avilities, but it was cool so I let him but the only move that really made sense was unleash your powers.

Was this the right play? Should I have made a custom move maybe? Is there another move maybe from a diff playbook (hurry up the Brain!) that I should encourage him to take on advancement? What would you have done?

Thanks!

Hey Masksperts, I ran into a question during our last (amazing) campaign of Masks:

Does the “take a move from another playbook” advancements and/or the “use an ability from another playbook” moves let you target the Nova’s burn/flares? If so, how would that work? Would they start with the standard 4 or would it be less?

The GM ruled it a no (since one of the other sheets specifically calls out that you can grab burn/flares as an advance), plus it was another player asking so I don’t really have a dog in this fight, but I’m curious. How would you handle that?

Thanks!
