So I’m just wondering how some of you handle the move use magic.
So I’m just wondering how some of you handle the move use magic. In our first session it was only used twice. Both times by the initiate. The first time was to deal damage. Then later the roof collapsed in one of the areas in the house to separate my two players. Well he instantly (by the way he is 9 years old) said he wanted to use magic to throw the debri out through the hole in the ceiling. It was a 10+ so why not? I let him do it since it seemed like it would fall under the ‘do one thing that is beyond human limitations.’
So tonight will be my first game with MotW.
So tonight will be my first game with MotW. My players (daughter and brother both 9-years old) have been playing Dungeon World so they are already familiar with the system. I recently discovered this game and thought they would enjoy it. I will be using my parent’s house as the location of the events. A Giant Plant monster growing out of the pool in the backyard that is beginning to spread throughout the house and neighborhood. There are some humanoid type plant minions that the monster has turned the residents of the home (my family) into. I really want to put them in the position of, “now honey, do you really want to cut your grandmother’s head off? Or would you like to see if maybe there’s a ‘cure’ for this?” Just have to make a small adjustment to the playbooks and moves by changing ass to butt so the kids aren’t yelling, “I want to kick some ass!” Ha. I just know my brother is probably going to go with the Monstrous while my daughter will probably pick the Spooky. So we will just have to see how this plays out later.
