So I ran my first session of AW two weeks ago, and everyone liked it, but I know I fucked up running it during one particular situation.

One of the characters tries to manipulate an NPC (the deputy of the sheriff in the community named Balls) and I freaked out and panicked internally. I told my player that he couldn’t be swayed. It’s been a few weeks so its hard to remember what was said, but I don’t recall the player offering the NPC anything he wanted.

In the future, how should I handle the possibility that the players can manipulate the NPCs?

Do fronts in Apocalypse World pose a danger to the characters, to the status quo, or both in varying degrees?

I’ve been thinking of how to go about a hack for Apocalypse World (or Dungeon World, I’ve been milling between the two). It had occurred to me that the best place to build a foundation is on top of the play books. From there, one can slowly change elements they would like to change during the course of play.

Does anyone else have wisdom in terms of hacking Apocalypse World or any other world?

When designing a playbook, how many moves do you feel is too many for a player to choose from?

So, the deal with Hx. I get that it is a driving mechanic in that in influences character improvement. It seems weird that it resets when you hit certain thresholds. I thought about it a bit, and based on how Hx is changed, it seems like whenever you hit a threshold, it’s like you learned to look at someone in a new way. And then you have to re-evaluate what you know about that person.

Does that seem close to how it was conceived?

I might be running Apocalypse World for my gaming group as an alternative to our AD&D game. Or it might be Dungeon World.

My question is, will having only two players be a problem? Has anyone had experience running either game for small groups? Any tips or insights?

If someone could develop a Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney hack for Apocalypse World, that would be awesome. Kthxbye
