Another updated mini-playbook from the upcoming AW supplement by me and Joe Mcdaldno. This one’s about a Quarantine out of space and includes a shout-out to the SMM, because of course. (Also lots of classic rock references.)

  1. The one thing I wish there was space for (and I might make space) is a line in Must complete the mission about how the orbital satellite can drop new components of your stasis.

  2. For some reason I like the idea of this archetype following a dying spacestation around the world as bits of it fall off and crash to earth.

Otherwise all I can see is Yuri from Manhattan Projects. (“I am the Yuri!)

Agent/Combatant might need some alteration to remove Reoceanification (unless it is Space Cousteau I guess?).

  3. I now want an Apocalypse in a ‘safe’ zone. Like a facility cut off from the world or in orbit.

Oh god—I just realized that’s what Skyward sword is. A world suffering from a psychic maelstrom, abandoned by the gods, a literal island of safety above it all.

  4. The first AW campaign I ran took place in low-earth orbit. Jamie Fristrom, our Quarantine, was frozen in a space pod and had just woken up to find that the earth had been basically wiped out. Lukas Myhan, our Faceless, never took his space suit off and carried around a fire axe. He was terrifying. And Gray Pawn, our Touchstone, was essentially a “Reaver” brought up from the surface who’d been reprogrammed by a space monastery to be non-violent. One major stop in the campaign was an Egyptian-themed orbital casino full of sun cultists.

  5. It’s a compilation of the best of my AW material, illustrated by Joe (and hopefully with some of his input too). There are 8 playbook supplements like this and then a 16-page version of The Afterborn, my YA AW hack. No timeline for release yet.
