Hey Tommy Rayburn, I was walking home thinking about the conversion of our d20 game into US and our Add-on and realized that we haven’t covering Embracing. Is this going to be an RP Element, a Move, or are we just going with can’t Embrace?

  1. Hmmm. Vamps Embraces. Are WoD’s Wolf’s born or turned? Do Hunter’s get beat in or something?  Just trying to see if this is a Vamp only move or if it needs to be genericized.

  2. Embracing is turning a person into a vampire.

When a vampire feeds you their blood after draining you dry you die and rise as a vampire. Change playbooks, using the standard procedure.

When you embrace an NPC human, feeding their dying body your blood, they rise as a vampire.

  3. WoD’s Werewolves are born. Hunters, if you’re using Reckoning, just kind of become empowered inexplicably. Mages Awaken on their own. This is safe as a Vamp only thing.

  4. Aaron Friesen, is right. Werewolves are born… but the chances for them Changing the first time at all have so many factors you can’t really keep track. For Hunter, we use the Vigil, which is a psuedo imbuing (the way the book describes the Vigil, you can’t ever go back to a normal life after you start noticing things). Mages Awaken seemingly randomly, usually however in high stress situations or during puberty, or when they witness magic… a lot of factors. There’s even an example in Awakening where a woman Awakened right as she conceived a child and her future daughter Awakened at that moment as well.

Vamps are pretty much the only WoD splat that can create more of their own in my experience (unless you consider hunters forcing normal people into the Vigil, but that doesn’t always work and isn’t the same thing).

  5. I figured it should be for anyone who is “human”. Which means probably wizards, the revered, probably not the immortal though, the oracle… and I think that’s it.

  6. Yeah anyone it makes sense for some really. I mean, if Vamps can take Spellcasting, Wizards should be able to be turned and return that ability… after all this is US as much as WoD, which makes character combinations totally awesome.
