When a chracter is in his/her darkest self and other player offer a xp for something (spending 1 strting).

When a chracter is in his/her darkest self and other player offer a xp for something (spending 1 strting). What is more powerful? The darkest self or the string? Who decides?

  1. The player who is being offered the XP always decided what their character does. Darkest Self or not. Being in Darkest Self doesn’t force the player to do anything, it just gives them suggestions about how to have their character act.

  2. The player decides.  They’ll still be in their darkest self, so that should come into play.  And using strings to manipulate people is never mandatory; there’s always the choice of ignoring it and not getting the XP.

Example: “No, werewolf, don’t kill my brother!  He means so much to me, and we’ve tried to help you prove yourself to your father!” (Here’s a string, you get one XP to not kill him.)

The werewolf could say, “Too bad, I’m way too angry” and kill him anyway, not getting the XP, or “Fine, I’ll attack you instead!” and get the XP.
