So…I don’t like the Nova getting the Bulls Heart advancement.

So…I don’t like the Nova getting the Bulls Heart advancement.

To me advancements are about growing up and growing into your own.

The Bulls Heart seems more childish, black and white, coming from emotional insecurity or instability.

To advance INTO that just seems odd.

  1. Interesting perspectives. Not my idea of what the game is about however, even if realistic.

    Thanks for the thoughts.

I don’t find it interesting to have a perm love or rival. These seem more like temporary bonds to me that are there to get resolved. Feels like a “wasted” slot in the Nova to me.

With that said…the nova is plenty diverse.

  2. You already hit the nail on the head: The Bull’s Heart bonds are only permanent if you want them to be. It makes you declare “these are the two people in all the world I feel most emotionally connected to” and then lets you change who that is on a whim, as often as fiction allows.

In the hands of The Nova, who is all about emotional insecurity and instability, it seems pretty mechanically and thematically spot-on. 🙂

  3. Alternatively, if you only want advances to represent maturation, making the bonds more permanent kinda does that. Could be The Nova being a big old flood of emotions except when it comes to these specific people, showing them developing a better handle on their real feelings when it comes to these two. Rocks in your stream.

  4. I don’t think that superman, or at least not the character as I enjoy him, is anything particularly like a nova.  His relationship with his powers just isn’t nova-like.  Teenage versions of Clark Kent still tend to be legacies (even though his legacy is mostly just his future self)
